004. i have been writing for nine years now, with experience primarily being on instagram, and on twitter since 2020. i am able to adapt to the style of my partner, however primarily i will write in short paragraphs and novella style replies. most of my responses will be multiple tweets, and any longer plots can take place in direct messages for the ease of sending responses. i am always open to banter and shorter replies but equally, i love writing in depth responses. some of the authors who have inspired my developing styles are madeline miller, margaret atwood, carol ann duffy and ali smith.005. my name is penny, hello! i'm nineteen, twenty in october, and have been writing for nine years now. i thank unregulated internet at an early age for this exposure to the roleplay community, for better and for worse! i am a full time uni student, studying english literature and history in joint honours in my hometown.006. my activity may be spotty at times, as i have previously mentioned i am a full time student, so uni takes priority. i similarly have a social life, somehow, so replies may take a little while to come through, especially longer ones. i like to take time and put equal amounts of effort into each response, hence the length of time it can take to reply, however i will always endeavour to let my writing partners aware if replies are going to extra slow.

Mabel is sixteen when first introduced in series two, as the younger sister of Ada Thorne's houseguest, the failing writer, James Bassett. James is staying with Ada rent free, with the promises and assurances that when his writing is published, he will pay her back in full for what she owes. Mabel, at this time, is working in Selfridges on Oxford Street in London, a shop girl earning enough to buy a packet of cigarettes and bag herself entry into one of the posh clubs the other girls from work go to.to make extra pennies, she takes any unselling jewellery, makeup, perfumes and items of clothes from the women's department once the shop has closed, bundles them into her bag, and sells them for considerably marked down prices to friends. she has a rather ditzy persona in the shop, with very few thinking she has enough sense to brush her teeth on a morning, let alone the brains to steal from the shop and not get caught. she is a fine actress when regarding the matter, keeping her idiotic shop girl persona in line during working hours.her brother is homosexual and disowned by their parents, though they did not disclose the information to the police. Mabel, caring more for her brother's left thumb than she cared for either of her parents, chose to leave the family home with him, thus resulting in her disowning by her parents. she is unbothered by such a thing, taking great pleasure in living in the capital with her brother and mixing with his array of friends. she is a prominent face in the London club scene even despite being underage, due to her frequenting of clubs notorious for what society would deem as 'unsavoury'.she befriends several of her brother's friends who are exploring bounds of gender and sexuality, and through this, she begins to steal from the shop she works at not for her own benefit, but for theirs. dresses no longer are sold, they are instead given as gifts to anyone seeking one. lipsticks are offered in return for a sip of a drink and a spray of the other's perfume. her brother's sexuality exposes Mabel to an exciting world of individuals exploring who they are romantically and sexually. Mabel is the definition of an ally - she is valentina. she is a respected person in what is forced to be the secretive underground scene for all that wider society still deems ' unusual '. she actively advocates for the protection of who the law sees as ' illegal 'individuals.
her thieving and regular face in London's emerging energetic club scene, modernising after the great war, does not go unnoticed by club owners' and police officers alike. it is eventually recognised what she is doing, with her stealing and black marketering, her links to the Peaky Blinders through her friendship with Ada Thorne, and her protection of gay, lesbian and transgender individuals.

JAMES BASSETT ; born in 1902, he is mabel's older brother by four years. he aspires to be a writer, though earns little money from anything he is able to publish. he is the houseguest of Ada Thorne after being disowned by his parents. suspected of being a boyfriend of ada's, he is revealed to be homosexual, in the company of Thomas Shelby, who uses james in a trick against Alfie Solomons.
ADA THORNE ; is a friend of mabel's, who offers both her and her brother a place to stay after befriending james in a club. after being disowned by her parents because of her support for her brother, ada becomes a replacement family member, taking pleasure in assuming the role of sister. throughout her life, mabel remains close with ada, and is the god mother of ada's second child, Elizabeth.
FINN SHELBY ; she meets the youngest shelby in london, at the same time as meeting his friend, Bonnie Gold. she throws a drink over one of finn's friends, and threatens to punch finn in the mouth if he finds rude jokes at the expense of others a laughing matter. it is bonnie who prevents mabel from actually fulfilling her threat.
ISAIAH JESUS ; similar to Finn Shelby and Bonnie Gold, mabel meets him in london at the same time. he is the one she throws a drink over, much to his horror and simultaneous amusement. it is difficult to be angry with her despite the attack, partly because it was widely recognised by everyone in the pub as being somewhat deserved.
THOMAS SHELBY ; the brother of ada, mabel first meets the gangster while a houseguest of his sister. she disapproves of him, finding him arrogant looking, though respects his acceptance of her brother. later, when an established politician, she hounds him to push for gay equality, though eventually publically campaigns against him after his association with Oswald Mosley.
BONNIE GOLD ; the pair first meet accidentally, in a pub in london. mabel throws a drink in the face of one of Isaiah Jesus after overhearing a crude comment at the expense of one of her friends. through a drunken conversation, she learns of bonnie's connection to the Peaky Blinders, and discloses her friendship with ada. whilst it is an unlikely pairing, there is a level of affection between the two. mabel watches him box, despite ridiculing him for the sport. mabel fears she loves him, despite knowing the feelings are likely unreciprocated. she is present at his funeral. her future son's name is bonnie.
ABERAMA GOLD ; the father of bonnie, mabel only meets him after the death of his son. aberama recognises her at his funeral, and gives her a hug, whipsering in her ear that he will get revenge. he invites her to the rally Oswald Mosley is due to give a speech at, alongside Thomas Shelby, though she never understands why - she is never informed the event was supposed to be the assassination of the politican, nor one of the steps of revenge for the murder of bonnie.
